OBJECTIVES
- To obtain a position as an Instructor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Effective communicator with fluency in English, Cantonese-Chinese, Mandarin-Chinese, and Korean.
- Expert in using computers of all platforms (Windows, Linux, SunOS) and related office software.
- Proficient in integrating the latest technologies (smartboards, internet, Ipods, etc…) within coursework.
EXPERIENCE
Coaching/Mentoring
- Totaled 303 volunteer hours, to teach and explain Basic English to Republic of Korea Army personnel.
- Coached methods on taking annual government-mandated Defense Language Proficiency Tests (DLPT).
- Taught language grammar, paralleling examples between Korean, English, and Chinese.
Education Program and Curricula Development
- Experience developing supplemental course material, to aide students of Korean, through showing etymological breakdown of Chinese elements.
Accountability
- Co-managed training and operational personnel databases to keep track of language material and language hours of all co-workers.
- Authored employees’ training manual, describing all operations and detailed procedures for a deploying military linguist of the United States Navy.
- Developed organizational skills of trainees by providing the foundations for database and record management.
- Prepared a daily syllabus to organize coursework and instruction.
Supervision/Leadership
- Monitored and counseled students and peers on their strengths and weaknesses, guiding them in their professional development.
- Tracked and reported by e-mail, the attendance of co-workers for Navy personnel database records.
- Counseled and corrected subordinate military personnel on behavioral issues.
Evaluations
- Sat through qualification boards, ensuring the trainee’s knowledge and skills meet with standards.
- Evaluated training courses and their instructors to improve training methods for future students.
Interpretation
- Served as a Liaison between US Navy and Korean Husbandry Services, to ensure the safe anchoring of US ships.
- Interpreted to Republic of Korea Army personnel, the intent of US military higher-ups intentions to deploy sensitive US equipment on Republic of Korea vehicles under US supervision.
